Laser Hair Removal in Northville MI for Every Skin Type

Shaving every morning, painful waxing appointments, ingrown hairs and irritation. Most people who come to us for laser hair removal are simply tired of the routine. And many clients in Northville, Michigan have an extra worry: they've been told their skin is too sensitive or too dark for laser.
At our practice, laser hair removal in Northville MI is built around your skin, not the other way around. We use two technologies, and knowing when to use each one is what makes the difference.
Laser Hair Removal in Northville MI: Our Diode Workhorse
Our diode laser is the main workhorse for hair removal. It's fast, efficient and works on any area of the body for clients with Fitzpatrick skin types 1, 2 and 3 (lighter to medium skin tones). Legs, back, arms and other large areas are where the diode really shines.
For Fitzpatrick type 4, we can occasionally use the diode, but gently and without pushing it.
Sensitive Areas Get Extra Care
Some areas are naturally more sensitive, especially the Brazilian, the underarms and the face. On these areas, our providers use gentle diode settings, typically no more than 12 joules at 3 Hz, and never push past what your skin can comfortably handle.
If a client can't tolerate even those gentle settings, we switch them to the Aerolase Neo Elite.
Where the Neo Elite Comes In
Small, sensitive areas
The Neo is ideal for small, sensitive areas. It's detailed, precise work, which is why we don't use it for large areas like the legs or back. That's the diode's job. But for a sensitive upper lip, underarm or bikini line, the Neo is a beautiful option.
Deeper skin tones
For Fitzpatrick types 5 and 6, we switch to the Neo completely. Deeper skin tones have more melanin, which makes many traditional hair removal lasers risky. Conventional guidance is to keep energy very low on these skin types, which can make treatment less effective.
The Neo changes that. It lets us use higher energy, even on dark skin, because its frequency works slowly and deliberately, one pulse at a time, at around 1 Hz or even 0.5 Hz. That slow, controlled delivery keeps the treatment safe while keeping it powerful. In our experience, it's out-of-this-world efficient.

Your Options at a Glance
Fitzpatrick 1 to 3: Diode laser for any area, with gentle settings on sensitive spots
Fitzpatrick 4: Diode used carefully, or the Neo when needed
Fitzpatrick 5 and 6: Aerolase Neo Elite
Sensitive areas with low tolerance: Diode followed by, or replaced with, the Neo
That flexibility means you get the most efficient option for large areas and the gentlest, safest option where it matters most.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is laser hair removal safe for dark skin?
Yes, with the right technology. We use the Aerolase Neo Elite for Fitzpatrick skin types 5 and 6, since its slow, controlled pulses allow effective energy while protecting deeper skin tones.
Does Brazilian laser hair removal hurt?
It's one of the more sensitive areas, so we use gentle diode settings and switch to the Neo Elite if needed to keep you comfortable.
What is the difference between diode and Aerolase for hair removal?
The diode is fast and efficient for larger areas and lighter skin. The Neo is ideal for small, sensitive areas and deeper skin tones.
How do I know which laser hair removal option is right for me?
Your provider will assess your skin type, hair and treatment area during a skin assessment and recommend the safest, most effective option.
