  • Laser Resurfacing Recovery in Northville, MI: The First Two Weeks

The single most common reason people in Northville decide against laser resurfacing isn't the price. It's not knowing what the first week looks like — and finding a lot of websites that talk around it. So here's the version I give people at their assessment, before they book anything. First, the honest caveat about "downtime" There is no single recovery timeline, because there is no single treatment. Resurfacing is done at different depths, and depth is the variable that drives everything. A superficial treatment and a deep one are the same tool doing very different amounts of work, and the recovery is different by a factor of several. What follows is a medium-depth full-face treatment — the one most people are picturing. Adjust up or down from there. Day of treatment You'll leave with skin that looks and feels like a bad sunburn. Warm, tight, bright pink. Some areas may have pinpoint bleeding depending on depth. The heat sensation lasts a few hours. Most people are comfortable with cool compresses and the aftercare ointment we send you home with. Do not plan anything social. Do not plan to drive far. Go home. Days 1 to 3 This is the hardest stretch and it's worth being blunt about it. Swelling peaks in the first 48 hours, usually most noticeable around the eyes and often worse on waking. Your skin will feel tight and look considerably redder than day one. Some oozing is normal and expected — that fluid is part of the healing process. You'll be applying occlusive ointment constantly. Your face will look shiny and wet, not powdered and matte. You cannot cover this with makeup. Anyone who sees you will know something happened. Days 3 to 7 The peeling starts. It doesn't come off in sheets like a sunburn — it's more of a fine, flaking shed, and it can be uneven, so parts of your face are new while parts are still coming off. The urge to help it along is powerful. Don't. Picking at skin that isn't ready is the fastest way to turn a good result into a scar. By day 5 or 6 most people are through the worst of it. By day 7, many are comfortable being seen, though the new skin underneath is bright pink. Week 2 onward The pink is the long tail. It fades gradually over 2 to 8 weeks depending on your skin and the depth we treated. Mineral makeup usually covers it well from around day ten. The new skin is also unusually sensitive to UV during this period, which is why we plan these treatments for the low-sun months in Michigan. Your actual result keeps developing for 3 to 6 months. Collagen remodeling is slow, and the skin you see at week three is not the skin you'll have at month four. Want to know which depth your concern actually needs? Book a free assessment — the recovery you're signing up for depends entirely on that answer. Why my recovery is shorter than the one you read about If you've researched CO2 resurfacing, the timelines you found were probably longer and rougher than the ones above. That's a real difference, not marketing. The Er:YAG wavelength is absorbed by water far more strongly than CO2 is, so the energy is spent removing tissue at the surface rather than depositing heat into the layers below. Less residual thermal damage means less to heal from. The physics behind that is here if you want the detail. Shorter is not the same as short. It's still real downtime. Planning your two weeks Take the day of treatment and the two days after off if you can. Have groceries in the house. Tell whoever needs to know that you'll look rough for a week. Book at least 6 to 8 weeks before anything photographed. Don't schedule a treatment 3 weeks before a wedding. And if none of this fits your life right now, that's useful information too — microneedling achieves less per session but asks for 24 to 48 hours instead of a week. Frequently asked questions How long is the downtime for laser resurfacing? For a medium-depth full-face treatment, plan on five to seven days before you're comfortable being seen, and two to eight weeks of fading pink. When can I wear makeup after laser resurfacing? Usually around day ten, once the skin has fully closed. Mineral makeup first. We'll tell you at your follow-up. Does laser resurfacing hurt afterward? The first few hours feel like sunburn. After that it's more tight and itchy than painful. Itching is a normal sign of healing. Can I go to work after laser resurfacing? Not for the first few days if your work involves being seen. Many people work from home from day three or four. How long until I see the final result? Three to six months. What you see at week three is early. If the recovery above sounds manageable, the next step is finding out what depth your skin actually needs — which is not something anyone can tell you from a website. Natural Lash Skin Bar is in downtown Northville, MI, serving Northville, Novi, Plymouth, Canton and Livonia. The assessment is free and there's no pressure to book on the day. • Effortless Beauty: Discover Lip Blush Permanent Makeup at Natural Lash Skin Bar

Imagine waking up with lips that look effortlessly done — soft color, defined edges, and a natural flush that doesn't smudge or fade. That's the magic of lip blush permanent makeup! It's one of the most transformative treatments offered at Natural Lash Skin Bar in Northville, Michigan. If you've been curious but hesitant about this treatment, you're in the right place! Let's explore everything you need to know before making your decision. What Is Lip Blush Permanent Makeup? Lip blush is a semi-permanent tattoo technique that deposits soft, pigmented color throughout the entire lip area, including the border. Using a fine PMU machine, the result is a natural-looking, tinted effect that mimics healthy, well-rested lips. Unlike bold lip tattoos of the past, modern lip blush enhances your natural lip color rather than replacing it. The pigment is carefully chosen to complement your skin tone and desired outcome. Whether you're after a "your lips but better" nude or a more defined rosy or berry tone, we've got you covered! At Natural Lash Skin Bar, Claudia works with each client individually to find the perfect shade, shape, and saturation tailored to your unique features and lifestyle. Lip Blush vs. Lip Liner Tattoo vs. Lip Filler — What's the Difference? These three options all enhance lip appearance but work very differently. Lip blush provides full tint and soft definition, lasting 2–3 years. A lip liner tattoo creates an outline only, also lasting 2–3 years. Lip filler adds volume through injectable hyaluronic acid, lasting 6–18 months. Lip blush stands out as the most versatile option for those who want their lips to look consistently polished without the need for makeup. The Healing Timeline — What to Expect Week by Week Days 1–3: Your lips will look significantly bolder and darker than the final result. This is completely normal! The pigment is sitting on top of the skin, appearing more saturated than it will once healed. Mild swelling and tenderness are expected. Days 4–7: The lips begin to dry and peel. The color will dramatically lighten during this phase, often leading clients to worry that the pigment has faded too much. Don’t worry! The skin is forming a protective layer over the pigment. Weeks 2–3: The skin fully heals, and the true color begins to emerge from underneath. The intensity softens, settling into the natural-looking tint you were aiming for. 6–8 weeks: This is when your touch-up appointment is scheduled. Once the skin is fully healed, we assess evenness, saturation, and shape, making any necessary refinements. Final result: Soft, defined, naturally tinted lips with consistent color you don’t have to think about! Does Lip Blush Hurt? What the Session Feels Like The lips have more nerve endings than most areas of the face, so some discomfort is expected. A topical numbing cream is applied and left on for 20–30 minutes before we begin. Once numb, most clients describe the sensation as light pressure or a scratching feeling — manageable, not painful. Some clients may be more sensitive at the lip border than the center, and we adjust the pace accordingly. The session takes approximately 2–3 hours, including numbing time and breaks. Most clients are pleasantly surprised at how tolerable it is compared to their expectations. According to the Michigan Health Department, every client wanting permanent makeup must consult their medical provider and obtain a numbing cream prescription before the session. How Long Does Lip Blush Last? Lip blush typically lasts 2–3 years before the color fades to the point of needing a full refresh. Most clients choose to do a color boost every 12–18 months to maintain saturation and crispness. Factors affecting longevity include sun exposure (UV rays break down pigment — SPF is essential!), skincare products used near the lips (exfoliants, acids, retinol), your immune system, and how quickly your body metabolizes pigment. Is Lip Blush Right for Your Skin Tone? Lip blush works beautifully on all skin tones — the key is selecting the right pigment. Claudia at Natural Lash Skin Bar specializes in color theory and chooses shades that complement your natural undertone rather than fighting it. Ideal candidates include anyone who wants defined, tinted lips without daily lipstick, clients with naturally pale or uneven lip pigmentation, and those with asymmetrical lip shapes seeking better balance. If you're looking for a low-maintenance, polished look every day, this treatment is for you! A history of cold sores is NOT a disqualifier. We simply ask that you take an antiviral preventively before your appointment, which we'll discuss during your consultation. FAQ: Lip Blush PMU in Northville, MI Will lip blush look natural? Yes! When done well, lip blush looks like your lips on their best day. The goal is a soft, organic flush of color with subtle definition, not a drawn-on tattoo look. Claudia specializes in natural-looking results. Can lip blush correct asymmetrical lips? To a degree, yes! The color and definition can minimize the appearance of asymmetry and create better visual balance. However, dramatic shape changes are limited by what works for your facial anatomy. We discuss realistic outcomes during your consultation. How much does lip blush cost in Northville, MI? The investment includes the initial session and the follow-up touch-up. Contact Natural Lash Skin Bar for current pricing. When you factor in the daily time and money saved on lip products over 2–3 years, most clients find it pays for itself quickly! Can I wear lipstick over healed lip blush? Absolutely! Healed lip blush serves as a base of color and definition. You can wear any lip product over it as usual. Many clients find they need lip products far less often, or not at all. What's the difference between lip blush and a lip tattoo? Traditional lip tattoos used dense, saturated pigment that could look harsh and unnatural as it faded. Modern lip blush uses softer pigments and a stippling technique, creating a more translucent, cosmetic effect designed to age gracefully and fade softly. Lip blush is one of those treatments clients describe as life-changing! Not because it's dramatic, but because you stop thinking about your lips. They just look good, effortlessly, every single day. Ready to Wake Up with Lips You Love? Book your lip blush PMU consultation at Natural Lash Skin Bar in Northville, MI! Claudia will design a color and shape that's uniquely yours.

  • Acne Scar Treatment in Northville, MI: What Actually Works

The acne cleared up years ago. What's left is the part nobody warned you about — the marks that don't fade, the texture you can feel with your fingertips, the way certain lighting makes your cheeks look uneven no matter what you put on them. Before we talk about treatment, there's a distinction that decides everything. Most people who come to me in Northville asking about acne scar treatment don't actually have scars. They have discoloration. Those are different problems in different layers of skin, and treating one as if it were the other wastes money. Scars versus marks: the fingertip test Close your eyes and run a fingertip slowly across the area. If you feel dips, ridges, or uneven ground, that's atrophic scarring — real structural loss in the dermis, where the healing process didn't rebuild enough collagen. Texture you can feel is a scar. If the skin feels smooth but looks red, brown, or purple in the mirror, that's post-inflammatory pigmentation or erythema. The surface is intact. What you're seeing is leftover pigment or dilated vessels sitting in otherwise normal skin. This matters because a resurfacing laser rebuilds structure and a completely different tool addresses colour. Point the wrong one at the wrong problem and you'll be disappointed at a real cost. If it's discoloration Redness and brown marks left behind by acne respond well to the Aerolase Neo Elite, which targets pigment and vessels without removing any skin. No downtime, several sessions, and it's the cheaper path. I mention this first because it's the answer for a lot of people, and I'd rather send you to the less expensive treatment that's actually right than sell you a bigger one that isn't. If it's texture Atrophic acne scars come in shapes, and the shape affects what's realistic. Rolling scars are broad, shallow depressions with soft edges. They respond the best. Boxcar scars are wider with sharper, more defined walls. They improve meaningfully but usually need more than one round. Ice pick scars are narrow and deep — they go down further than they are wide. These are the stubborn ones. Resurfacing can soften the edges and blend them into surrounding skin, but a deep ice pick scar is not going to disappear, and anyone promising otherwise is selling you something. Medium resurfating How laser resurfacing addresses scarring Laser skin resurfacing works by removing a controlled depth of tissue and triggering a wound-healing response beneath it. That response lays down new collagen. Over the following months the depressed areas fill in from underneath and the edges soften, so the scar catches light less sharply. The Er:YAG wavelength I use is absorbed almost entirely by water at the surface, which means the ablation is precise and the heat left in surrounding tissue is minimal — that's the reason recovery is shorter than with older CO2 systems. I've written about the physics of that difference here. Scar and lesion work is priced per named area rather than as a full-face treatment, so if the scarring is confined to your cheeks or your jaw, that's what you pay for. Not sure which category your marks fall into? Book a free assessment and I'll look under proper lighting and tell you honestly. Where microneedling fits? Microneedling also stimulates collagen, through controlled micro-injury rather than ablation. For mild, shallow texture it's a genuinely good option — less downtime, lower cost, done as a series. For moderate to severe atrophic scarring, resurfacing does more per session. The honest framing is that microneedling and resurfacing sit on a spectrum of how much collagen response you're generating and how much recovery you're accepting in exchange. What I won't promise I will not tell you your acne scars will be gone. Scarring is structural damage and the goal is meaningful improvement, not erasure. I won't treat you if your acne is still active — new inflammation while you're healing creates new scars. And I won't quote you a number of sessions before I've looked at your skin. Scar work varies more between people than almost anything else I do. Frequently asked questions How many sessions does acne scar treatment take? It depends on scar type and depth. Rolling scars often need fewer than boxcar or ice pick. You'll get a realistic number at your assessment, not before. Does laser resurfacing hurt? We use topical numbing. Most people describe the sensation as hot and prickly rather than sharp, and it's over quickly for a targeted area. Is microneedling or laser better for acne scars? Microneedling for mild texture, resurfacing for moderate to deep. The right answer depends on what your skin actually shows. Can you treat acne scars on darker skin? Yes, with an adjusted protocol and depth. Lower risk is not no risk, and that conversation happens before anything is scheduled. How long until I see results? Collagen remodeling is slow. You'll see initial improvement within weeks and continued change for 3 to 6 months after treatment. If you've been living with acne scarring and want a straight answer about what's realistic, that's what an assessment is for. Natural Lash Skin Bar is in downtown Northville, MI, serving Northville, Novi, Plymouth and Canton. It's free, it's honest, and if the answer is a cheaper treatment than the one you came in asking about, that's what you'll hear.
